Nanette: A Very Brave Dog

and how one little dog showed her life

Tut tut!! Nanette and her Bone!!

E-mail Print PDF

Now although Nanette has been with me for 7 years now, she still has no comprehension of how to eat a bone.

Well yes!! of course, she knows its  by mouth!! but what I mean is, that although I have sent her out in the garden with it and even gone and shown her how to bury a bone, she shoots back inside and gets on her couch with it!!

Nanette 6 months after Bertie's departure

E-mail Print PDF was February when Bertie left his physical body and although Nanette knew what had happened in her way....I showed her his body resting in his little bed until it was cold...(.never bury a warm body!!! ), She was devastatingly sad. She has been sad and lacked confidence in the village since then but with momentary improvements from time to time.

Although I still sometimes 'see' Bertie with ' The Buddha' fellow ( see under Bertie ), it's not so frequent and I perfectly understand one must move on they glibly say!!! but then THEY say many things and we ought to question alot more perhaps. The fact is that Bertie was a huge ' Presence', I'm almost tempted to say.....should I .. I wonder? Yes! I  think I will!  Spiritual Presence !!!

Do dogs suffer Grief?? Nanette certainly has! Since Bertie left his body behind, she has not been the Nanette I have come to know....until....this week.

Now part of this may have been due to what I call ' Planetary influences'. Being a keen observer of Astrological movement, I have noticed that not only Humans are affected by Full and New Moons as well as Eclipses and other potent alignments but Animals also and it just so happens that we arre curently in a very interesting period involving 3 Eclipses between the last New Moon and the next on July 1st.

As far as I am concerned  this is about  increasing Awareness and a deepening of Consciousness and Heaven knows we sure need it....just look at our world!!! and by the way ourselves!!! But I digress!.....

Nanette is sad

E-mail Print PDF

For the first time in the 6 years since Nanette's adoption, I heard her ' crying' early this morning! It was a gentle sad whimper.

I immediately got up and went to her to realise she was grief stricken over Bertie's demise. Her expression was indescribable.!!

Quickly I got dressed, ate a hurried breakfast and we went out.....we walked in fact nearly all day....just coming home for a quick lunch. She cheered up in the town, meeting all the other people and dogs and gradually I realised we were rediscovering the life we had before Bertie arrived.

He was such a bundle of love but a very difficult dog ,who needed alot of my attention both in the house and out walking. There was always the possibility of him biting someone...In the house, he had fits sometimes, nightmares and needed constant reassurance. It was much better during the last year but even so, Nanette and I had many broken nights!!

This meant that the dynamic between Nanette and myself changed of course. Although I am still shedding tears over Bertie''s absence, I can see this is an opportuntiy to redress that balance. This means that she can accompany me much more and once again enjoy a much more social life.

There are no accidents in life as far as I am concerned. It was the best thing for Monsieur Bertie and is the also the best for Nanette and myself. Enjoy your Being in the Summerlands my little man....with your darling Mimi xxxxx

Nanette drinking from the fountain

Just look at this picture!!...and see the ease with which Nanette takes a stance and laps the water!!! So what??.... It was only a few months ago that we would be obliged to go a long way round on our town walk to avoid this ' dangerous monster!!!

Nanette was terrified of both Fountains....this one being the biggest represented the greatest threat!!....( installed in the town since her arrival here with me  4 years ago,)....
